Nib Size Guide
Fountain pen nib size guide
Extra Fine 0.4mm
The Extra Fine nib on the Lamy Safari fountain pen is best suited for writing scripts with emphasis on writing strokes, such as Chinese or Japanese characters. However, they can also be used for writing in other languages, while using lower quality, everyday writing papers. These nibs are suitable for just about every writing condition.
Fine 0.6mm
Fine nibs are more general purpose. They provide a smoother and more generous writing experience compared to an extra fine nib. Even though they may not be as suited for quick, everyday writing, or note taking, they are sure to provide a more comfortable writing experience for slower writing paces.
Medium 0.8mm
Medium nibs are not as highly recommended for everyday use as the previous two nib sizes especially when writing thinner, more stroke-oriented scripts. They are recommended for use on high quality paper to prevent the ink from penetrating through the paper to the other side. Medium nibs allow a smoother writing experience compared to the Extra Fine and Fine nibs.
